I just read December 15…
How sweet. I must say, in my life lately, I told Him I want to be in His Will and wow! has He been an amazing and rather shocking Leader. I am so thankful where He has me right now- without horses, but with children and grandchildren which as He knows is where my heart is and His heart for me. Blessings to you and yours, Wanda Wilkie

Thank you Steve! It was great to get a couple catch-ups over the weekend, and we too are looking forward to being back next summer (God willing)!.

Thank you for your kind words/feedback. I am glad it spoke to you.

Happy almost-Advent, and we'll see you in a few weeks!

Hi Christopher,

It was so good to see you, Faustina and the girls last night and it was good to gather with the family. You are blessed no doubt about it and I am glad to be a part of it! I am so looking forward to having you all around next summer!

It was delightful to hear your observations of the beauty of creation around you at the ranch and the wonders of watching Charity discovering the world around her.

I was also intrigued by your reflection on being called and chosen. I love how you mentioned needing to start by getting to know our Lord first and out of that relationship our calling will arise. You are so right, for once we know God's incredible love for us everything in us wants to make a return of that love which is the very reason God gave us the gifts to begin with. The fruit will arise from making a return of love because others will be drawn to this love which is the only thing that can satisfy the emptiness within their heart drawing them to the One who loves them. Not a bad way to start Advent, where we are called to make room in the stable of our hearts for making ever greater room for God to be born anew.

Thanks for the opportunity to reflect.

God bless,
Steve

In reply to <a href="https://www.happybabyranch.com/nov3-23/#comment-3">Steve Regnier</a>.

Thanks Steve! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, it is not hard to find God in my life, whether in His Creation or in my girls. I just have to remember to look.

And yes! Focusing on Him vs. outcomes is so key! He is there in our highs & lows, but we often only acknowledge Him when we're in our lows asking Him for the highs. Simply being with Him, whether high or low, creates a stable life built on Him.

God bless you!

Hi Christopher,
I enjoyed reading this and it helped me to remember to look for God in His creation and in people around us. I would imagine in the midst of the beauty of the North Dakota landscape His presence is not hard to find. Your reflections about your girls made me remember a favorite past time of watching Grace skip along the sidewalk on the way to a local park. She was home a week ago from college to attend a conference and now I am marveling at her developing and unpacking the gifts she has been given to share with the world. What a wonderful gift we have been given to be able to walk alongside and foster our kids.

I am looking forward to hearing about your week of trusting in the Lord. Lately I have been trying to focus on the ongoing joy of God's presence and being grateful for all the blessings and gifts He has given us. I find when I place my focus here and not on outcomes, that I become more free to stay in His presence and wonderful things happen around me (that may not be at all what my anticipated outcomes were about) and what He (and ultimately me) care most about. This sometimes can be a challenge when our human condition (and culture) tells us it is all about outcomes, but maybe that is why God gave us 100 years or so to get some practice.

May God continue to bless you.
